Dr. Silvia Forni explores the unique museums of the kingdoms of the Cameroonian Grassfields by examining the seemingly eccentric curatorial decisions made there. Drawing on a long tradition of object display by kings, called the “things of the palace,” Forni recounts how the history of colonialism and oppression have resulted in displays that include commercial items from abroad and foreign-influenced, regional art in community spaces devoted to local identity and history.
