On the Origins of the Bathroom Lineup
Waiting in line for the restroom is, for the most part, an accepted part of being a woman in many developed Western countries. However, although waiting has become normalized in this culture, the frequent long lines at women’s restrooms speak to some deep-seated issues: a long history of women not belonging in public spaces. Anthropologist Jen Barr and photographer Meryl Schenker take us through the issues, the history and *ahem* a couple of loos to illustrate their point.
